Recipe: Play! web project aux fines herbes

Today, in "Top Play! Chef" we are going to cook a delicious web project with Play! and its Maven module, all served with Eclipse.

Before starting, download Play! Framework 1.0.3.2 release and make sure it is in your path. Let's cook!

play new nu # our project is named 'nu'
cd nu
vi .gitignore # we are using git to spicy it a bit

• lib
• logs
• target
• tmp
• war

git init
git add .
git commit -a
play install maven # only needed the first time you use it
vi conf/application.conf

• module.maven=${play.path}/modules/maven-head

play mvn:init

cd /tmp # here it goes: my secret Maven sauce :)

wget http://github.com/imdario/play-maven/raw/master/resources/play-parent/pom.xml

mvn install

rm pom.xml

cd -

wget http://github.com/imdario/play-maven/raw/master/resources/pom.xml

mv pom.xml.1 pom.xml # only needed if you already got pom.xml in your dish

mvn clean install

Ready to import with Eclipse and m2eclipse. Profit!
